Introduction of department

The Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Neurology is a department that deals with the development and neurological diseases of children. It is a field that deals with epilepsy, developmental disorders, headaches, muscle diseases, motor abnormality, sleep disorders, congenital brain malformations, degenerative neurological diseases, and rare and intractable diseases that can occur in children and adolescents. The Kyungpook National University Children's Hospital was first established in 1999 by Professor Kwon Soon-hak, who majored in pediatrics in the United States, and currently has three pediatric neurologists, and is providing more specialized treatments through the Developmental Rehabilitation Center, Epilepsy Clinic, and Rare Disease Center.

The Developmental Rehabilitation Center conducts detailed physical and neurological examinations, genetic tests, brain MRI tests, and developmental evaluations for accurate diagnosis and treatment of children suspected of delayed development, and Department of Pediatric Mental Health and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine specialists are cooperates for it.

In addition to initial diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy patients, the epilepsy clinic conducts 24-hour EEG tests, brain MRI tests, single photon emission tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET), and gene tests, and provides customized medical care using the latest drugs and ketogenic diet.

The Rare Diseases Clinic is striving to accurately diagnose and treat genetic metabolic diseases and degenerative neurological diseases through various gene testing techniques
