Introduction of department
Breast thyroid surgery is in charge of the surgical treatment of thyroid cancer and breast cancer, which rank first and second in women's cancer cases in Korea recently. First, each of the nine teams see their patients independently, and discuss on cases as an entire team to decides on a pre- and post-operative treatment plan. In addition, our multidisciplinary system with specialists from multiple fields provides the best treatments for the patients (radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine, general surgery, plastic surgery, radiation oncology, hemato- oncology, rehabilitation medicine, psychology, and breast cancer specialists).
Our robot thyroid surgery makes only 1 to 1.5cm incision on both areola and armpits with minimum scar, and there is no incision scar on the neck. Its 15times magnified three-dimensional view and free moves allow highly sophisticated surgery preserving occipital nerve and parathyroid glands easily, and also it is very effective method that presents low complications rate compared to the conventional incision surgery. The Minimally Invasive Thyroidectomy reduces the incision size from 5-6cm to 3-4cm saving operation time and patients can recover quickly with less pain after the surgery.
