Established in March 2018 as a Ministry of Health and Welfare-designated Regional Center for High-Risk Mothers and Newborns, the Comprehensive Care Center for High-Risk Pregnant Women and Neonates at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital serves as the core maternal-child health center for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, dedicated to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates. The center is divided into two main divisions: the High-Risk Maternal-Fetal Care Unit and the Neonatal Care Unit.

In the High-Risk Maternal-Fetal Care Unit, dedicated specialists provide outpatient and inpatient care, operating a 24-hour rapid response system for emergencies in the ward and delivery suite. Supported by an around-the-clock anesthesiology duty system, we ensure prompt emergency surgical interventions during labor when necessary.

The unit is equipped with 6 maternal-fetal intensive care beds, along with delivery room-based surgical suites and recovery rooms, and works in close collaboration with various specialized departments within the Pediatric Medical Center, operating 31 neonatal intensive care beds. Over 50% of our annual deliveries involve high-risk pregnancies complicated by premature birth, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, maternal medical conditions, or fetal congenital anomalies, and we strive to manage these carefully to ensure safe deliveries.

The Neonatal Care Unit operates 31 neonatal intensive care beds. Following its designation as a "Regional Center for Neonatal Intensive Care" by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2017, the unit delivers exceptional medical expertise and care for numerous high-risk newborns in the region.
