Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital President Seong-Sik Park Attends the 16th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum

•   Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital (President Park Sung Sik) attended the 16th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum as a representative of Korean medical institutions, making an official visit to Turkmenistan from October 31 to November 1. During this visit, President Park held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

• The Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, a multilateral consultative body established in 2007, aims to foster comprehensive cooperation in areas such as economy, culture, and environment among the five Central Asian countries—Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. This year's forum included representatives from Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Korea Forest Service, and various domestic enterprises.
   

• The bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan included prominent figures such as the Vice President of Turkmenistan’s National Medical University, the Director of the Emergency Medical Center, and the Director of the Ministry's Medical Education Department. President Park discussed various collaborative opportunities related to Korean-style rehabilitation and emergency medical systems, including training programs, educational exchanges, and system consulting.
   

• Notably, President Park was invited to provide consulting services for training and development at Turkmenistan’s National Rehabilitation Medical Center, set to open in 2024. Additionally, he was asked to support the advancement and operation of an innovative system within Turkmenistan’s Emergency Medical Center.
   

• Furthermore, Professor Park Eun Hee from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital presented on "What is Rehabilitation Medicine?" to healthcare experts from the five Central Asian countries. This presentation, part of the health and pharmaceutical segment of the forum on November 1, addressed the development of rehabilitation medicine and healthcare systems in Central Asia.
   

• President Park expressed his hopes for the forum, stating, “I look forward to sharing insights and wisdom as we usher in a new era of healthcare cooperation between Korea and Central Asia.” He affirmed Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital’s commitment to collaboration across areas such as Korean-style rehabilitation and emergency medicine through education, training, and system consulting.
   

• As the only Korean institution actively engaged in healthcare cooperation with all five Central Asian countries, Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital has established itself as a specialized center for Central Asia healthcare collaboration. The hospital has led projects such as the implementation of a Korean-style residency system for rehabilitation medicine in Kazakhstan, the establishment and operation of a telemedicine center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, infectious disease management seminars in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and education, training, and seminars in partnership with the Education and Science Center of Turkmenistan.
